Ruchir Sharma

Chief Investment Officer

Ruchir Sharma is the Chairman of Rockefeller International and founder and Chief Investment Officer of Breakout Capital – a new investment firm focused on emerging markets and partnered with Rockefeller Capital Management. Ruchir came to Rockefeller from  Morgan Stanley Investment Management, where over a 25 year career he rose to become Chief Global Strategist and Head of Emerging Markets, managing close to $20 billion in assets. As a global investor and author, he travels frequently to different countries, meeting with political and business leaders. From his extensive travels and field research, Ruchir developed a pioneering system of 10 rules for identifying promising economies, which he captured in a 2016 New York Times bestseller, The Rise and Fall of Nations. Recognized that year by Barron’s as “Wall Street’s New Global Thinker,” Ruchir was a New York Times contributing opinion writer from 2016 to 2021 and is currently a columnist for the Financial Times.

Swanand Kelkar

Managing Partner

Swanand worked at Fidelity, HSBC and an India affiliate of Deloitte before joining Morgan Stanley Investment Management in 2007. He worked at Morgan Stanley for 14 years, rising to managing director, overseeing a roughly $3 billion portfolio. Several of the Morgan Stanley funds he managed ranked in the top decile of emerging market performers between 2014 and 2017, when one investment team took the Citywire best fund award. Swanand graduated from Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad and is a chartered accountant. A rare multi-talent, Swanand is a certified yoga instructor and a club cricketer.

Sherri Cohen

Chief Operating Officer / Chief Financial Officer /
Chief Compliance Officer

A 30-year industry veteran, Sherri has held leadership roles across financial services, from operations to product management. In 22 years at Morgan Stanley Investment Management, she rose to become Global Head of Emerging Markets Trading, overseeing all aspects of product risk and portfolio construction, as well as IT infrastructure, compliance and business development, alongside her trading responsibilities. In 2021, she moved to UBS, leading business development in the Execution Hub Outsourced Trading Division. Previously, she worked at Societe Generale, GE Investments, Cigna Investments and State Street Bank. Sherri previously held Series 3,7,24 and 63 FINRA licenses.

Adam Sterngast

Head of Operations

With over 15 years of industry experience, Adam was most recently Head of Operations at Cartica Management, an emerging market hedge fund. He held previous roles in operations at Argonaut, Balyasny and GMO.

Sidhartha Gupta

Director of Operations

Sidhartha has over two decades of experience in investment operations and client servicing. He was the COO of Morgan Stanley’s asset management business in India.

Rohit Goel

Head of Macro Research

A former lead equity analyst at Barclays Capital, Rohit worked most recently as a senior researcher in the Global Markets Division of the International Monetary Fund. He helped develop the IMF’s framework for monitoring global financial stability, and led research on emerging markets and asset valuations. He also advised central banks, and was an author of the IMF’s Global Financial Stability Report.

Zachary Apoian

Director, Macro Research

Zack has over 20 years of industry experience in quantitative portfolio strategy and research including, eight years with Morgan Stanley, where he worked with multi-asset mandates, and eight years with Sanford C. Bernstein. He started his career with roles at SAC and Chronos, after graduating from MIT with degrees in Mathematics, Physics, and Management Science.

Apoorv Bhargava

Macro Analyst

Apoorv has six years experience in global financial markets. Most recently, he worked as a researcher in the Capital Flows Division of the IMF, analyzing flows to emerging markets and developing macroprudential policy recommendations. Before the IMF, he worked as an analyst at JP Morgan, covering global cross-currency markets.

Chintan Parikh

With 18 years working as a quant, Chintan was most recently a key member of the HOLT team at Credit Suisse, specializing in the quality of corporate accounting, fundamentals and valuations.

Yitian Zhang

Senior Equity Analyst

Yitian has spent 9 years on the buy side, specializing in fundamental research in international markets, particularly Asia. Mostly recently, she was a senior analyst at Echo Street Capital, a New York-based investment fund. She started her career with Select Equity Group after graduating from the University of Virginia in 2013.

Ameya Karambelkar

Equity Analyst

With seven years of experience, Ameya started working in Research and Development at Tata Motors before obtaining a post graduate degree from the Indian Institute of Management. Since then, he has held positions in equities research at IIFL Capital and in bottom-up research on the investment team at Kotak Investment Advisors.

Cheryl Galante

Head of Investor Relations & Client Servicing

A veteran of UBS, Credit Agricole and Natixis with over three decades in capital market sales, trade execution and asset raising, Cheryl was most recently at a boutique firm that helps buy side institutions raise funds.

A former Managing Editor at Newsweek International, Tony started working directly with Ruchir in 2011, editing his books, opinion columns and macro research for clients.

Christine Dsouza

Head of Administration

An alum of Arthur Andersen and Ernst & Young, Christine has spent nearly 30 years in administrative support to global, multi-office teams, the last 16 at Morgan Stanley.
